Three minutes from install to your first translated call. This guide covers both directions: hearing the call in your language, and speaking back in it.

Two ways to use it

Listen

Hear the call in your language.

Lisseno plays a live translation into your headphones. Nothing changes for anyone else in the meeting — no bot joins, no captions appear.

Meeting mode is not needed for this. Just pick the meeting app as your source and press Start.

Listen + Speak

Reply in your language, too.

You speak normally — the other side hears your words as a translated voice in their language. For this, the meeting app needs to take its audio from Lisseno.

This needs Meeting mode. A one-time setup, explained below.

Honest note: with Listen + Speak, the people you talk to hear a translated voice — they will notice you're using translation. With Listen only, nobody notices anything.

Turn on Meeting mode — once

Meeting mode lets your meeting app take its audio from Lisseno, so the call hears your translated voice. You set it up once:

In Lisseno, go to Settings → Meeting mode.
Press Activate. macOS asks for your password once — that's the only prompt, and nothing runs in the background.
Switch the toggle on. You can turn it off there anytime.

Select Lisseno in your meeting app

One step in each app: open its audio settings and choose Lisseno in the input list. Keep your headphones as the output so you still hear the call.

Zoom

Zoom → Settings → Audio. Under the input device, choose Lisseno. You can also switch mid-call via the arrow next to the mute control.

Microsoft Teams

Teams → Settings → Devices. Under Audio settings, set the input device to Lisseno.

Google Meet

In the call: More options (⋮) → Settings → Audio. Choose Lisseno as the input.

Other apps work the same way: anywhere you can pick an audio input, choose Lisseno.

Start your session

Listen From: pick your meeting app.

Languages: the one you want to hear, and the one you speak.

Output: your headphones.

Start: then just talk. The call hears your translated voice; you hear theirs in your language.

Lisseno is an early build with a limited tested app matrix. Before an important call, do a one-minute test call — with a colleague or a second device — to confirm both directions sound right.
